Counting how many strands of hair you have can be hard, but you do not have to count one strand after the other or use a microscope to know your hair density. If you visit a hospital, they use trichoscopy, an imaging technique to determine how much hair you have per square inch.

That is one of the most accurate ways. However, you do not need to go to a doctor. You can determine your hair density at home using several methods. The first one involves testing how easily you can see your scalp through your hair.

If you can see it without moving your hair, your hair density is low. If you have to move your hair a little to see the scalp, that is medium density. However, if you can't see your scalp unless you section your hair, that is high hair density.

You can also measure the circumference of your ponytail to determine your hair density. The smaller the circumference, the lower the density. If the circumference is below 2 inches, that is low hair density, but it is high density if it is over 4 inches.

Also, how many times you twist your hairband over the ponytails can tell you your hair density. You can also ask your hairdresser if you are having a hard time determining.

Avoid using hair styling and drying tools that use a lot of heat. Instead, let your hair air dry or use heatless equipment. Also, wash your hair with lukewarm or cold, and not hot water.

2. Use the Right Products
